Customized Library Containers
We place customized library containers (book pods) in areas of rural Kenya where students do not have adequate access to educational resources.
Books, Books, Books
It takes approximately 30,000 books to fill a library container. We collect new and used ones from old and new friends. We scour each one for content appropriateness, then sort, digitally catalog, and mark by reading level to place in the pod.
The Gospel Message
Not only do we provide students with reading materials for greater opportunities for their futures, we also share the hope of eternity with them through the Gospel of Jesus Christ – which they can now read for themselves!
Reading Coaches
Each pod offers reading coaches to help students learn sight words, phonics, and proper pronunciation, as well as make appropriate reading level book selections.
Learning Resources
Beyond books, KanKen Connect provides additional resources to help students learn, whether it be games and activities, dictionaries or subject-specific materials.
'Lil Blue Book Boxes
Each pod offers English reading coaches to help students learn sight words, phonics, and proper pronunciation, as well as make appropriate reading level book selections.
Community Connections
KanKen does not operate in a vacuum. We are located within a larger community that consists of a local school and medical services. We partner with these groups to provide better services – together.
